Gallup MainStreet Arts and Cultural District Needs Your Help
As a 501c3 non-profit Gallup MainStreet Arts and Cultural District depends on donations from folks like you. We work daily to make Historic Downtown Gallup a place that people want to spend time, and to do that we need your help. If you look at the photos on this page you can see some of the projects that we are a part of.
Every summer we host the Levitt AMP Gallup Music Series. The series seeks to activate our underutilized outdoor Courthouse Plaza by bringing a FREE summer concert series to downtown Gallup. The Levitt AMP series pairs local and upcoming musical acts with national and international touring artists for 10 weeks out of the summer. Making Historic Downtown Gallup the place for musical entertainment in Gallup.
We provide business training classes to local entrepreneurs as well as operate the Downtown Business Resource Center that has media equipment to assist business owners create marketing materials for their businesses. This is available free of cost to downtown businesses as well as folks looking to start a business. We even host pop-up maker’s markets to artisans an opportunity to sell their work.
During the Coal Avenue Commons construction project and through Covid-19 we provided construction mitigation services that helped businesses survive both construction and the pandemic. We created the Art on the Fence project to help beautify and add interest to the construction fencing during construction. Additionally, through our partnership with New Mexico MainStreet we have received over $2 million in capital outlay project funding to help the City of Gallup pay for these amazing projects.
We partnered with gallupARTs to create the Tiny Art Project in downtown Gallup bringing a sense of whimsy and fun to the downtown area.
As an accredited Main Street Program Gallup MainStreet Arts and Cultural District can access free services, for downtown businesses and properties, through New Mexico MainStreet. These including graphic design, branding, and architectural renderings. All of this is available at no charge to the business or property owner.
Historic Downtowns all over the country contribute to the quality of life in those communities and Gallup is no different. Historic Downtown Gallup is the heart and soul of our community and one of the things that makes Gallup a great place to live, work, and play. When large corporations look at relocating or starting something in a new community, they want to know what the quality of life in a community is like, and a big part of that is the historic downtown.
