Gallup, NM—Gallup MainStreet Arts & Cultural District (GMSACD) is pleased to announce a virtual concert series to be recorded in Historic Downtown Gallup, featuring seven local and regional musicians. A new concert will be released every Thursday from November 5 until December 17, 2020 on GMSACD’s social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Thanks to our partner KGLP, each concert will also be aired on the following Saturday during the radio station’s 4pm hour on 91.7 FM or streaming at KGLP.org.
The concert series is made possible by a grant from the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation and seeks to bring our community together virtually through music, during a time when we cannot gather together over the holiday season. We’ve partnered with local downtown businesses to host each of the seven concerts, offering a chance to see music in some unlikely spaces! Participating businesses: Bright Life Arts Studio, Gallup Coffee Company, Makeshift Gallery, Nizhoni Music and Wellness Studio, Quintana’s Music Center, Shi’ma Traders & Pawn, and Weaving in Beauty.
Musicians for the series were selected through an open call in September and reviewed by a committee of community members who worked to select a diverse lineup of acts representing a range of style and background. Please see the artist lineup below, along with concert release dates. There is also a special re-presentation of the virtual concert we hosted in July with Levi Platero happening on October 30, 2020, hosted by Levitt Foundation [link], which is a great way to kick off our new series.
Thank you to Zia Sound for mastering each recording and to Bowen Creative for creating our graphics.
